Online Stopwatch
Start, lap, stop — accurate to a hundredth of a second, right in your browser.
How to use the stopwatch
- Start / Stop toggles timing. You can resume after stopping without losing your time.
- Lap records a split while running — great for tracking each set, rep, or lap without breaking the clock.
- Reset clears everything back to zero.
Stopwatch vs timer
A stopwatch counts up from zero — use it when you want to measure how long something takes. If instead you want to count down to zero with an alarm — cooking, pomodoro, speeches — you want the online timer. For pure speed challenges, the spacebar counter has built-in timed modes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the stopwatch keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It tracks real elapsed time, so switching tabs or briefly locking your screen does not affect accuracy — the time is recalculated from the clock, not from a tab-limited counter.
Can I record lap times?
Yes. Press Lap while running to record a split; each lap shows both its own duration and the total elapsed time, so you can compare intervals.
How accurate is the stopwatch?
It uses the browser’s high-resolution timer and displays hundredths of a second. It is plenty accurate for workouts, cooking, presentations and games, though it is not a certified timing device.
Do I need to install anything?
No — it runs in your browser on any device, with nothing to download and nothing stored.
