Webcam Test
See a live preview of your camera and confirm it works, with resolution and frame-rate details.
What this webcam test checks
- That the camera is detected — every camera the system sees appears in the dropdown.
- That it produces a picture — a live preview confirms video is actually flowing.
- Resolution and frame rate — see the exact quality the camera is delivering.
Fixing a camera that will not show
A black or missing preview almost always comes from one of three things: another program is holding the camera (close other video apps and tabs), a physical privacy shutter is shut, or the browser lacks camera permission — grant it via the padlock icon in the address bar. If the preview works here but a meeting app shows nothing, the problem is that app’s camera selection or permission, not your webcam.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I test my webcam online?
Click "Start webcam test" and allow camera access when your browser asks. A live preview appears — if you see yourself, the camera works. The panel below shows the active resolution and frame rate so you can confirm it is running at full quality.
Is the video recorded or sent anywhere?
No. The preview is shown locally in your browser and nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded. The video stream never leaves your device, and it stops the moment you click Stop or leave the page.
My camera shows a black screen. What now?
A black preview usually means another app is already using the camera (close Zoom, Teams, or another browser tab), a privacy shutter is closed, or the wrong camera is selected. Try picking a different device from the dropdown, and check the padlock icon for camera permission.
Can I switch between front and external cameras?
Yes. Every camera the system detects — built-in, USB webcam, or virtual camera — appears in the dropdown. Select one to switch the live preview to that device.
Why does it work here but not in my video call?
If the preview is fine here, the hardware and drivers work. The call app either has a different camera selected or is missing camera permission at the app or operating-system level — fix it in that app’s settings, not the webcam.
